A Little Peace And Quiet lyrics
By Rick CharetteA Little Peace And Quiet
CHORUS: A little peace and quiet, I can find in my special place.
A little peace and quiet, in my special place.
1. Sometimes I need a quiet place, a place to call my own.
Where I can listen to my thoughts, when I want to be alone.
A place that welcomes me as I am, where I don’t have to flee
And there’s music, music all around me. CHORUS:
2. Later I’ll play with my friends, meet them by the maple tree.
But for now, I’ll relax right here with a favorite magazine.
Imagining places I can go from the pictures that I see.
And there’s music, music all around me. CHORUS:
Butterflies Fly
CHORUS: Butterflies fly. Butterflies fly.
Spread out your wings. On the warm breeze you glide.
Butterflies fly. Butterflies fly.
I like to watch butterflies.
1. When you were a caterpillar crawling on a leaf,
Did you think you could fly? And if you could, what you’d see?
Did you think it was impossible? Did you think there was no way?
I wondered ‘bout the answers as you inched away. CHORUS:
2. The next time I saw you, you had spun a cocoon.
All tucked inside, there wasn’t much room.
I watched and I waited while you hung upside down.
But I walked out one morning and you weren’t around. CHORUS:
3. I was running through a field just the other day
When I noticed a butterfly coming my way.
He flew past my shoulder, landed on my thumb.
As I looked it over, I knew it was the one. CHORUS:
Sharing A Hug And A Squeeze
CHORUS: This is for you a hug and a squeeze
to let you know how special you are to me
Here is a hug. Between you and me,
We’re sharing a hug and a squeeze.
1. You might share a hug with a friend when you’re feeling happy inside.
Sometimes a hug can be better than words, when it’s time to say goodbye. CHORUS:
2. I like to hug my dog and my cat. I try not to squeeze them too tight.
But if I tried to hug my wiggly goldfish, it would quickly swim out of sight. CHORUS:
3. At the end of the day, when I’m ready for bed, after the story is through.
Just before I snuggle under the covers, you give me a hug.
I give one to you. Sharing hugs together is what we do. CHORUS:
The Loon And The Boy
There’s a loon, calling from the North, gliding ‘cross the lake,
dark and deep, on a summer night.
There’s a boy, standing on the shore.
He listens to the call of the loon ‘cross the lake
on a summer night.
And the boy, in a loon-like voice, calls across the lake
dark and deep. It’s a magic night.
And the loon, hearing his reply,
calls out to the boy on the shore ‘cross the lake
on a summer night.
By the shores of the lake something is happening.
Hear the loon and the boy becoming friends.
All around not a sound can be heard ‘cept their calling
Echoing through the skies. Listen to their happy cries.
Time goes by. Summer turns to fall.
It’s silent on the lake dark and deep every single night.
And the loon, now many miles away, will wait to see the
bboy on the shore ‘cross the lake on those summer night.
When I Climb The Tallest Tree
Today I’ll climb the tallest tree in sight.br /> Get way up high where I can feel so free.
I’ll take the time to dream, to see what I can see
Today when I climb the tallest tree.
Tonight I’ll gaze up at the stars
So far away, yet not so very far.
I’ll take the time to dream, to see what I can see
Tonight when those bright stars shine for me.
And dream of peaceful times, dream of special friends.
All around me happiness that never ends.
All kinds of sunny days, that sounds good to me.
Growing strong and reaching for the best that I can be.
Today I’ll climb the tallest tree in sight.
Get way up high where I can feel so free.
I’ll take the time to dream, to see what I can see
Today when I climb the tallest tree.
Tonight I’ll gaze up at the stars
So far away, yet not so very far.
I’ll take the time to dream, to see what I can see
Watching dreams come true for you and me
TToday when I climb the tallest tree.
Sandcastle
I run out on the beach. It’s summertime again.br /> The tide is quickly going out. I see miles and miles of sand.
I get down on my knees. I know what I’m going to do.
I’m going to build dream in sand and watch it all come true.
CHORUS: Sandcastle, sandcastle, building in the sand
I’ve got a pail and shovel. Would you like to lend a hand?
Sandcastle, sandcastle, look how proud it stands.
I’m going to build the biggest one, castle in the sand.
I pile the sand around me. Up go the castle walls.
Towers facing each direction rising up so tall.
I cut out doors and windows. Stairs go up the side.
I put in secret passages in case I need to hide. CHORUS:
I dig a moat and fill it up with water from the sea.
It circles ‘round my castle. It helps to protect me.
But I’ll lower down the drawbridge whenever friends drop by.
We’ll have so much time to play and we’ll be safe inside.
I watch the king and queen descend the spiral stairs.
They march into the great hall. A royal feast has been prepared.
There are jesters and jugglers. Music fills the air,
A magnificent celebration for everybody there.
I stand back and admire my castle in the sand.
Suddenly I look around. The night is close at hand.
The tide is swiftly rising. The waves are rushing in.
My castle soon will wash away but my dreams won’t have to end.
AAnd I’ll be back again. CHORUS:
Mr. Man In The Moon
Words by Sarah Minot and music by Rick Charette
Mr. Man in the moon, Mr. Man in the moonbr /> How do you do it? How do you do it?
How do you make it shine?
Do you wash it all day? Do you wax it all day?
Do you hold a candle inside?
MMr. Man in the moon, I want to know how you make it shine.
I’m Not Afraid Of The Dark
When it’s time to go to sleep, I climb into my bed.br /> I wrap the covers ‘round me. I lay down my head.
I get a warm cozy feeling when everyone says goodnight.
I always think of happy thoughts when I turn out the lights.
CHORUS: I’m not afraid, I’m not afraid of the dark.
I’m not afraid, I’m not afraid of the dark.
Some nights as I lie in bed, I see shapes on my wall.
Even if they move across the floor, I’m not scared at all.
I watch them dance on my window. I wonder what they could be.
I can see they’re only shadows. I know they won’t bother me. CHORUS:
Sometimes I get awakened at night by noises all around my house.
It might be a creak, a thump, a squeak or the cat that wants to go out.
Now and then it’s the neighbor’s dog howling up at the moon.
Some nights I hear my sister closing the door to her room. CHORUS:
It’s A Quiet Night
It’s a quiet night. Stars light up the summer sky.
It’s a quiet night. As I walk, I watch the fireflies.
All around me the air is so still. I hear the song of a lone whippoorwill.
All is well. Everything’s all right.
It’s a quiet night. The sun has gone to bed.
It’s a quiet night. The moon is overhead.
A frog ribits. Another replies.
I smell the pine needles as I go by.
All is well. Everything’s all right.
It’s a quiet night. I’ve put the day to rest.
It’s a quiet night. Little birds chatter in their nests.
Their mother hears them call from afar.
She makes it back to their nest before dark.
All is well. Everything’s all right.
It’s a quiet night. I hear the beating of my heart.
It’s a quiet night. I walk softly through the dark.
So many sounds, I’m not alone.
I hear somebody calling me home.
All is well. Everything’s all right.
Day is done. Gone the sun
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky.
All is well. Safely rest.
GGod is nigh.
